About me (blog)

Hi! I’m Brigitte – one half of Ardgay Bespoke Tours. Thanks for stopping by.

BIO

Raised in Germany, I have been very much at home in Scotland since my marriage to a gamekeeper/stalker in 1973 who passed away in 1999.  We enjoyed life together, spending more than two decades living on remote sporting estates in Argyll, the Borders and Caithness. I worked in broadcasting, marketing and as conference interpreter/technical translator. In latter years I came to live in beautiful Sutherland where I met Frank, my significant other and now business partner in Ardgay Bespoke Tours.  Enjoying life in remote rural areas, I had the opportunity  of studying Scotland’s history, archaeology, flora and fauna and much else in three degree courses with the Open University (BA Hons) and with the University of the Highlands and Islands (BSc Hons and MSc).
My heart is firmly committed to the Highlands, and I enjoy sharing some of its secrets with passengers from all over the world.  Our tours are peppered with topical snippets of information and grounded in thorough research.  In partnership with Frank van Duivenbode, we can offer you tours of  fascinating castles, either inhabited or in ruins, fabulous gardens, ancient woodlands and quite simply – fantastic views of outstanding scenic areas.  We’re happy to entertain you with legends and stories of past and present rural life. The Pictish Trail and Outlander Trails are very much part of our itineraries. We are proud to be one of few tour operators that invite you to put together your own itineraries. As you will see from reading my Blog, I also enjoy writing and taking photographs. I would welcome your comments both here and on Ardgay Bespoke Tours’ Facebook page.
